Apple to hold a special event on Feb. 28th, 2006

I very excited about tomorrow, Tuesday Feb. 26th, 'cause Apple is holding another "special event". I hope they have a lot of new Ipod announcements. Like a new true video Ipod. I want a new one, not there's anything wrong with the one I've got. Its just that its an old 3G"touch-wheel" model, with absolutely no video support or even photos. I will be suprised if there are not Ipod announcements tomorrow.

First time using the Google Blogger widget for Mac OSX "TIger"

Ok this is the first post using Google' blogger widget in Mac OS X "Tiger". Right now it seems as if some of the words are unreadable, but it may be a issue with the widget. Other than that, a quick and easy way to post to my blog.

Film Club meeting and MUG meeting

Went to the first MUG (Mac User Group) meeting of the semester. It was pretty cool, we went over all the announcements at Mac World which most of us already knew about. I think we have a meeting next Tuesday so more stuff to come from the house that Apple built. At the Film Club meeting this week, NOTHING happened, one of our memeber is working on a short titled "Vacation" but he's still working out technical difficulties and isn't read to cast yet so we'll see. I can't wait for Montage to get released so I can start writing "Nicole" as well as various other shorts I have in mind. I also got ILife '06 so I'm thinking about a new website for Dusk till Dawn Productions. Most likely it will be done with iWeb, since its simple to do. I can hardly wait for Apple to release its next Ipod, as well as for Nintendo to release its DS lite, and I want a new Intel iMac so bad. Hopefully the spring will be nice to me and I can get all these things before the fall semester.

Thoughts on the 2006 Arkansas Film Cineposium in Little Rock

Well I got back from the Film Cineposium Sunday night and let me tell ya it was quite an eye opener for me. Jeff Seckendorf is a DP who has work with some of the Hollywood finest for more than 20 years. His prefered medium is 35mm film. I can't blame him, it produces great images and like he said the tape based formats will probably not be around 100 years from now, but we'll always have a lense and a light bulb. As far a tape based systems go however, he would use nothing less than the Panasonic DVX100 or HVX200 series of cameras. Arkansas Film Cineposium 2006

Its time for the Arkansas Film Cineposium again... this time I'm going since its still free. Hope its worth my time. I guess I see. This means that the UA Film Club is starting to hold regular meetings again and we've got some pretty cool projects lined up for the Spring 2006 semester. If I'm wrong about the Cineposium I'll have learned and will probably just go to a Videomaker workshop or on their Carribean videomaking cruise that they hold twice a year.

In this news article the author states that Steve Jobs didn't announce products that should have been at Macworld, products and updates that were expected and that Apple was eager to announce. Will he announce something new before WWDC? We'll see.

Comments on the Steve Jobs Keynote at MacWorld

Ok the keynote is over, to be honest I thought it was somewhat lack luster this year. To start off with no Ipod updates (80Gb video Ipod, Ipod shuffle or otherwise). Second, the Ipod FM transmitter thing, not very inpressive. Griffin Technology already has the iFM, and it comes in black, match the new Nano and Ipod with video. I'm surprised that the Intel annoucement was not bigger, ie: what models where going Intel after the iMac and MacBook Pro. The iLife apps look promising, however I'm not planning on upgrading until OS 10.5 "Leopard" is released. I just wish we had seen some more Ipod announcements or Front Row, which was released with the new and last iMac G5. As a stand alone app. Hopefully Apple has some more great suprises like the iMac G5, Ipod with video, and Ipod Nano, waiting to be released later this Spring, before WWDC in June.

Macworld SF '06 predictions...

Here are my predictions for Macworld SF 2006. What I'm really thinking about and wanting for Apple and Steve Jobs to announce is...

a Ipod shuffle with a small screen
a 5G video Ipod with an upgraded HDD to 80Gb, ( I read an article that said Toshiba had that capacity) and hopefully wireless functionality for song and video transfer.
A mac mini with the Front Row app and video capture card for PVR (personal video recorder) functionality as well as the ability to display on a TV with no degradation in quality.
A revamp of the iLife apps with a focus on digital video and audio creation (podcast and vidcasts), as well as a Iphoto like app excusively for video.
Announcement of a roadmap for the Intel switch
A preview of Mac OS 10.5 "Leopard", including new features that will set it apart from Windows upcoming Vista OS as well as Apple's current OS 10.4 "Tiger"
Anything else very cool that I haven't thought of

Well its that time again when I'll say so long to another semester at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. To tell the truth I really kinda glad. This semster's been a headache to say the least. I really lament the fact that there is not film program here. Only theatre and drama. Of course we are home to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Sports here suck most of other departments funding. Man, I can't wait for the new year to get here. 2006 I hope will be an exciting year at least in consumer electronics. It seems that its already shaping up to be with CES and Macworld San Fransico in January, with Apple's announce of their roleout of Intel-based Macs. Along with the lauchs of Playstation 3 and Nintendo Revolution. 2006 looks to be a great year, we'll see soon.

I hope their are some cool new prosumer camcorders at CES 2006, I can't hardly wait to get a new camcorder and start shooting indie shorts and features. Oh, I kinda shying away from the Panasonic GS400, the tape transport problem is not something I want to deal with. I've been looking at the JVC GY-DV300U instead, unless something equally awesome comes out at CES. I'm buying this one.

What's the world coming to? Today, I read that the US Government wants to oversee (read: "gain control of") and most likely will impose regulations on the content that is displayed on the Internet. At least in the U.S.A.

I found some funny stuff yesterday while I was working on a school project. I post it here later or on my website. I also found another poltically correct (at least in my eyes) blog, and the author has a sense of humor (read: "I think she's Democratic or Independant who is tired of being herded like sheep") toward our President and the whole Iraq issue as well as others like Hurricane Katrina, Social Security, Healthcare to name a few.

I just found a new client blog creation software. Its called Ecto, I haven't downloaded and previewed it yet, but it does seem better to use right now than Frequency, I tried that out last week. It does not have an easy way to add titles to blog posts, Ecto however does.

What's up with Apple's Safari and Blogger

I wonder when Blogger will allow Apple's Safari web browser to have the features that are already available to IE and Firefox. As far as posting goes. With "Compose" and "Edit HTML" tabs. This makes it a lot easier to insert hyperlinks into posts I think.

Film Club update

I almost forgot... we had a Film Club meeting tonight. we decided to finish last semester's film "Invisible", and will start working on "Hang-Over Hotel" latter this month. The Eureka Springs Digital Film Festival is this weekend (Nov.12-13) Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Unfortunately, I won't be going, I'm busy on Saturday and at night I have to run crew on the UA Drama Dept.'s production of "Big Love". what a downer, did I mention I am a Drama major. The Film Club will be have a recruitment event next spring, so hopefully we'll get some new people will mad skills or at least the desire to make LOTS!! of films. Almost forgot at the end of the meeting we watched some truely dreadful S&M short that some local filmmaker did. Let's just say I've seen better Internet porn than that. That all for now, LATER!

Some people are really weird or just inmature!

Some people are really weird, I was reading a forum post under the "Newbie" section this morning at Filmmaking.net and this 16 year old kid was making a film about his life, he was trying for the dramatic, but it seemed more like a documentary to me. He was going off about how he was all expeienced at life an such, it was really pathetic. The other posters were more than willing to give him constructive criticism, but he did seem like he wanted it. His script NEEDED some serious work, some of his ideas really made no sense. As he continued to post on this topic he got so mad, because everybody kept telling him that he really didn't have a "shootable" script. He said that a 20 yr old wouldn't know any more about life that he did. He said that his life had been pretty rough up to this point, so he thought he was an authority on life of a teenager and everybody else was just stupid or something. Hi everybody,

This my first post ever, I thought I'd enlighten you with what going on in my life a little bit, as well as my projects (some related to filmmaking and some not.) I'm the webmaster (well kinda) for the University of Arkansas, Fayettville's Film Club, is a student organization that allows for UA students to create films of all kinds, it was founded to promote student filmmaking on campus, and off. As well as to promote independant filmmaking throughout Northwest Arkansas. My own site,Dusk till Dawn Productions, is home to a few past projects of mine as well as links to filmmaking and theatre sites I find interesting.
